There is/ There are  "Hay"

Utilizamos estas expresiones para hablar sobre la existencia o la cantidad de personas u objetos.
They are used to ask about the existence or the quantity of people or objects.

AFIRMATIVE (There is/ there are)

There is
We use there is with singular countable nouns or with uncountable nouns.

There is a book on the table.
There is some sugar in the fridge.
There is some juice.
There is a student in the classroom.

There are
There are is used with plural countable nouns.

There are some children in the park.
There are some books on the table.
There are twenty-one teachers at the school.

NEGATIVE (There isn't a/any---there aren't any)

There isn't a book on the table.                         There aren't any children in the park.

The Snowman

Dear students,

Before Christmas holidays we watched the movie "The Snowman".

The Snowman is the tale of a boy who builds a snowman one winter's day. That night, at the stroke of twelve, the snowman comes to life.

Homework:

1. You have to choose six images and draw them on the worksheet.
2. Under each picture you have to write a short description.

Sentences for telling the story

El construyó un muñeco de nieve. "He built (build) a snowman".

El muñeco de nieve entró en la casa. "The snowman went (go) into the house". 


El muñeco de nieve cobró vida. " The snowman came (come) to life".


El muñeco de nieve bailó. "The snowman danced".


El muñeco de nieve se disfrazó de mujer. "The snowman dressed (dress) up as a woman".


El muñeco de nieve se dio una vuelta en  una moto. 

"The snowman went for a ride on a motorcycle".

El chico y el muñeco se echaron a volar. "The boy and the snowman took (take) flight". 


Ellos sobrevuelan su ciudad y las casas. "They flew (fly) over the boy's town and over houses".


El chico y el muñeco asisten a una fiesta de muñecos de nieve. "The boy and the snowman attended ( attend) a snowmen's party".


Ellos conocen a Papá Noel y sus renos. " They met ( meet) Father Christmas and his reindeers".


Papá Noel regala al chico una bufanda con dibujos de muñeco de nieve. 

"Father Christmas gave (gives) him a scarf with snowman pattern".

A la mañana siguiente después de su viaje el sol ha salido y el chico se despierta y encuenta que el muñeco de nieve se ha derretido.

"The morning after their journey the sun has come out and the boy wakes up to find the snowman has melted".

El muñeco de nieve se derritió. "The snowman melted".


El chico introduce la mano en su bolsillo y encuentra la bufanda que Papá Noel le había dado.

"The boy reaches into his pocket and finds the snowman scarf given to him by Father Christmas".

El chico llora la pérdida de su nuevo amigo.

"The boy mourns the loss of his new friend".
